Since that did not occur, we have pulled this item from the April 12 agenda, and it will be deferred until your April 26 meeting. For your information, the ARA's attorney informs me that they have directed him to focus on the S-trap/P-trap issue. After we do so, could you help send out a notice to the media? Wording could look something like this. Item 41 (Rental Housing Code revision -first reading of ordinance) has been "pulled"from Tuesday night's City Council agenda to allow time for additional public review. Council consideration of this ordinance will now occur at the meeting of Tuesday, April 26. Thanks. Since December when the Council made its final decisions on the rental housing code, staff has done an exhaustive job going through your meeting minutes to make sure the draft ordinance includes everything you directed us to do. On Saturday we identified one section that was inadvertently left out. That item will be corrected for the April 26 meeting. Given the numerous meetings and lengthy discussions involved with these code changes, it wouldn't be surprising to find confusion or questions regarding what is included in the draft ordinance. The City Attorney's Office is communicating with the ARA's attorney, inviting them to identify any areas where they believe we have not followed Council's specific directions. We are sending them the detailed minutes from both your October and December meetings to facilitate their review. Should the Attorney's Office learn of any cases where the proposed ordinance does not capture Council's specific decisions, rest assured that those changes will be incorporated into the revised ordinance that will go out with your April 26 packet. Please let me know if any of you have other questions or input on this. I hope that a meeting would include the other issues in addition to those related to "s traps".
