Re: Corrective repeal of Chapter 32 -Mechanical Code
Dear Mayor Campbell and Council Members:
You may recall that very recently, the newest versions of the uniform building, electrical, plumbing
and mechanical codes were adopted by reference into our municipal code. You may have observed
that these provisions were all contained in one consolidated chapter of the municipal code,so that all
the codes related to Building,Electrical,Plumbing and Mechanical systems could be readily found.
The consolidation of these codes in one chapter has been a change from past practice, since
previously each was found in its own separate chapter of the code and they were scattered throughout
it.
Also please recall when the newest uniform codes were enacted, there was also a related request,
which was to repeal Chapters 7 and 21 of the Municipal Code. Those two chapters contained
separate text of the plumbing and electrical codes, and the repeal was appropriate to avoid their
duplication with Chapter 5. It recently came to our attention that when this change was made, the
repeal of the separate chapter of the Mechanical Code, Chapter 32, was overlooked. The attached
ordinance amendment is proposed to repeal Chapter 32 so the present duplication it has with Chapter
5 is eliminated.
Your favorable consideration of this proposed ordinance is requested.
Sincerely,ft I
d
