Subject South Dayton Place-another speed ordinance needed
Hi Damion, 0
Changing names of streets leaves us with lots of loose ends to tie up. Here's another one. When the
south end of South Dayton Avenue became South Dayton Place due to the construction of the new road, it
lost its enacted speed limit. There is still a speed limit that works for South Dayton Avenue, but there is no
speed limit for South Dayton Place. One of the police has already brought to my attention that a speed
limit is needed there.
What would be appropriate?Tell me and I will get it written up, like was done for S 16th.
Judy Parks, Asst City Attorney
P.S. Can you also put in a pitch to get some more lighting for the intersection of S Dayton Place with
South Dayton Road? Or tell me who I ask? This same situation came about because a driver went straight
north off the curve just south of that intersection. Drivers have been used to that road being straight for so
long that there will be a learning curve but if lighting or lack of same is part of the problem, let's fix that.
