Dear Diane:
Records in my office indicate a recent annexation that requires an assignment to an election
precinct for voting purposes. Per Iowa Code §49.8(2), this is a decision of the City, and the
Council may attach the annexed territory to any established precinct which is contiguous.
I reference Ames City Resolution #08-477 recorded on November 15, 2008.
To complete real estate and election records, I am requesting an Ordinance from the City of
Ames acknowledging the annexed territory to the City's established precinct, and I will
remove the territories from the Grant Township precinct.
