SUBJECT: Suspension of Rules for Approval of Parking Changes on Ironwood Court
CC: Police Chief Chuck Cychosz
Traffic Engineer Damion Pregitzer
During the past year, city staff has worked with residents in the Ironwood Court area to review changes
to parking regulations. This action was initiated after complaints were received by the Police
Department during football games. Congestion in the area was serious enough during football games
that it would prevent large emergency vehicles from being able to reach the residential areas of
Ironwood Court.
Based on meetings with residents, property owners, and business managers, the recommendation was to
amend parking regulations to facilitate the safe travel of two-way traffic and emergency vehicles. You
have the draft of the ordinance for approval on August 26, 2008.
In an effort to have these regulations in place for the first home football game, I am asking that you
suspend the three readings rule so that the ordinance goes into effect after it has been published.
Because the first home football game is August, 28, 2008, this will allow us to post signs to insure
access for residents and emergency vehicles in the Ironwood Court neighborhood.
