HomeMy WebLinkAboutA001 - Memo to Council explaining funding for new FTE Al Memo + City Manager's Office TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Bob Kindred, Assistant City Manager DATE: May 18, 2007 SUBJECT: Ordinance Establishing New Stormwater Fees As part of the City's continuing efforts to comply with the federal Clean Water Act, the 2007-08 Budget includes revenue from two new stormwater fees. These fees will help offset costs for a new employee who will review site plan stormwater pollution prevention plans and will administer stormwater development activities for individual building lots. These two fees are estimated to generate $45,000 each year towards the $80,000 cost of these new programs. The balance of the cost will be covered through an increase in the existing stormwater utility fee and through reimbursement for subdivision design services from developers. These fees, as well as establishment of the additional Full-time equivalent employee (FTE), were approved by Council as part of the 2007-08 Budget. Sections 5.401(1) and(3) of the attached ordinance authorizes implementation of these new fees. Encl
