Ms. Murphy,
Diane Voss forwarded your e-mail message to me. The Urban Deer Task Force met last
Thursday afternoon. Those present were:
• Bill Bunger, Depredation Biologist, Iowa Department of Natural Resources
• Travis Smith, IIzaak Walton League
• Ken Holscher, Associate Professor, Iowa State University Department of Entomology
• Lorna Lavender, City Animal Control Supervisor
• Loras Jaeger, City Police Chief
The Council meeting starts at 7 p.m. tonight. My understanding is the Council will allow public
comment when the deer ordinance comes up for review.

Dear Diane,
Hi, I'm writing to ask you a question regarding some information I'd heard
regarding the meeting of the White-Tail Deer Management Task Force that met
sometime last week.
I was informed that Loras Jaeger had attempted, or intended, to contact me
just prior to that meeting? Is that the case? If so, I never received a
call/voice mail on either my cell/office numbers. In addition, I was out of
town all last week for my job so I would have been unable to attend that
meeting anyways. We were regretful to hear that the task force met and did
not include any of the many members of our group. Could you confirm for me
the specific names of the people in attendance?
In addition, I would like to get some more information about the agenda for
tomorrow's city council meeting. Will there be time for comment about
White-Tail Deer Management Ordinance before or after it is discussed by the
city council? Please let me know any specific format that should be followed
in order to make public input.
Thanks, as always, for any information you can supply for me. My contact
number is below.
Sincerely,
Maggie Murphy

Maggie:
You would speak during Public Forum at a Regular Meeting. The next one
would be on October 10. That would give you about a week to get as many
signatures as possible on your petition. You would present the petition
for the record at that meeting.
