To the Owners, Tenants, and Occupants of the area hereinafter described,you are notified that
the City Council for the City of Ames,Iowa,will hold a public hearing in the City Council Chambers,
City Hall, 515 Clark Avenue, Ames, Iowa, in conjunction with its meeting scheduled to begin at 7:00
p.m. on the 24"'day of January, 2006, on the proposed adoption of an urban revitalization plan for an
area described as:
Lots 1, 2, 12, 13, 14, 15, Block 2, College Heights Second Addition and
Lot 1, College Heights Fourth Addition(formerly Lots 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and the
N % of Lot 8, Block 2, College Heights Second Addition)
to be called the Sunset View Urban Revitalization Area and enactment of an ordinance to designate
the land described above as an urban revitalization area.

The addresses can usually be ascertained by utility customer service; I believe that's where Joe P. would
get them. If we know there's six apartments, could we put Apt. 1...?

I personally don't think Mr. Chester should be responsible to notify the residents; I would have no proof
that he provided notice to them. Iowa Code mandates that theCity Clerk provides notification; therefore, I
will do it. This situation presents itself often. We hardly ever have the names of the tenants/occupants;
the labels just state:

Subject Urban Revitalization Area at Sunset View
The notice information is being sent out to you now for the URA that Council initiated last night.
I believe that state law requires notification to all residents as well as the owners. Usually on these
multiple-family URA's this is not an issue since there are no residents. IN the case there are occupied
rental properties, including two six-plexes. We do not have access to reliable mailing addresses for these
types of units.
In the particular case, when you notify the owner for this entire URA, Jon Chester, can you please also ask
that he copy and distribute the notice to all residents?
I am completing the Plan for this Area and will have it down to you today, since I believe you need it
available for public review 30 days prior to the hearing.
