LEGAL NOTICE
You are hereby notified that the City Council of the City of Ames, Story County, Iowa, will meet at
6:00 p.m. on November 8, 2005, in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 515 Clark Avenue, Ames,
Iowa, to consider a proposed amendment to the Official Zoning Map of the City of Ames, Iowa, by
changing the boundaries of the districts as shown on said map as provided in Section 29.1507 of the
Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows:
That the following described real estate located 534 South Duff Avenue is proposed to be rezoned by
ordinance from"A" (Agricultural) to "HOC" (Highway-Oriented Commercial).
Real Estate Description:
A tract of land being part of the North Half of the Southeast Quarter and part of the South Half of the
Northeast Quarter of Section 11, Township 83 North, Range 24 West of the 5'P.M., City of Ames,
Story County, Iowa, to wit: Commencing at a found PK Nail at the Southwest Corner of said
Northeast Quarter, thence along the north line of said Southeast Quarter S89°12'04"E, 1114.77 feet
to the point of beginning;thence N00°29'54"W,329.36 feet to a found iron rod;thence S89°10'51"E,
204.28 feet to a found iron rod on the east line of the Southwest Quarter of said Northeast Quarter;
thence along said east line and the east line of the Northeast Quarter of said Southeast Quarter
S00°29'54"E,695.44 feet to a set iron rod;thence leaving said east line N89°33'12"W,633.62 feet to
the Southeast Corner of the Buford and Helen Day Trust Property, (Ames Rental); thence along the
east line of said trust property N00°21'43"W, 180.02 feet to a point on the south property line of
property now or formerly owned by Ward Development,LC;thence leaving said east line along said
south line S89°33'12"E,428.92 feet to a found iron rod;thence N00°29'54"W, 187.38 feet to the point
of beginning,containing 5.03 acres, subject to any and all easements,restrictions,conditions,etc.,of
record.

329.34 feet to a found iron rod at the point of beginning;thence N00°37'42"W,336.46 feet to a found
iron rod on the easterly extension of the centerline of Southeast Fifth Street; thence along said
extension N89°59'45"W, 337.36 feet to a found iron rod on the east right-of-way line of said Fifth
Street; thence leaving said extension along said east right-of-way line N00°15'32"W, 39.98 feet to a
found iron rod at the Northeast Corner of said Fifth Street;thence leaving said east right-of-way line
along a curve deflecting to the left having a radius of 300.00 feet,an arc length of 165.25 feet,a chord
bearing of N74°24'23"E, a chord distance of 163.17 feet to a set iron rod; thence along a curve
deflecting to the right having a radius of 380.00 feet, an arc length of 205.51 feet, a chord bearing of
N74°07'09"E, a chord distance of 203.01 feet to a set iron rod; thence N89°36'44"E, 190.19 feet to a

You are hereby notified that the proposed ordinance making such a change is on file in the Office of
the City Clerk. Any parties in interest and citizens may appear at the November 8, 2005, Council
meeting to testify for or against the proposed ordinance. Written testimony will also be accepted.
