Mr. Ted Tedesco, Mayor
Mr. Steve Shainker, City Manager ICITY OF AMES, IOWA
Dear Mayor and City Council:
We are a long-time religious institution in the City of Ames and are writing to express our support of the
pending decision to amend the zoning code pertaining to the building of garages for institutions in Ames.
We understand that the decision is being considered to enable churches with parsonages to build garages
under the normal residential building codes instead of the building complex's code.
We have worked with Ray Anderson and the City Manager, Steve Shainker, to sponsor this change. We
would appreciate your attention to the matter. The Planning and Zoning board has approved this measure
at its most recent meeting. We ask for your support of the change. We also ask for your consideration of
waiving the second and third reading of this change.
The church has been working on this zoning change for over three months. Construction season is almost
over and if we are required to continue waiting for a second and third reading of the amendment we will
miss our opportunity to build the garage this season.
Please consider our request and if no major objection is found we ask that the second and third reading of
this motion be waived. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Rev. Danny K. Hines
Pastor
