HomeMy WebLinkAboutA001 - Council Action Summary dated June 28, 2005 0 LAJ aItem # ZFOOOO CO- Date: June 28, 2005 COUNCIL ACTION FORM SUBJECT: PARKING REGULATIONS ON WILDER STREET, DURANT STREET, AND HARTFORD DRIVE BACKGROUND: In response to the filing of the plat for Sunset Ridge Subdivision First Addition, parking regulations are required. The city is currently building narrower local streets in an effort to calm traffic. This requires "No Parking" regulations on one side of the street to provide the emergency services enough room to set up their equipment. "No Parking" signs are installed on one side of the street where the street width is twenty-six feet. The north side of Durant Street provides hydrant access to emergency services. Therefore, Staff feels no parking regulations should be placed on the north side of Durant Street from Wilder Avenue to the east end of Durant Street. Likewise, Hartford Drive is also a local street with hydrants on the east side. Staff recommends no parking regulations on the east side of Hartford Drive from Lincoln Way north to the end of Hartford Drive. Wilder Avenue is proposed to be a collector and will have fire hydrants located on the east side of the roadway. Therefore, Staff recommends installing no parking regulations on the East side of Wilder Avenue extending from Lincoln Way to the north end of Wilder Avenue. Please review the map on the reverse side. ALTERNATIVES: 1. Direct the City Attorney to develop an ordinance to prohibit parking at all times on the east side of Wilder Street and Hartford Drive and on the north side of Durant Street. 2. Reject this ordinance. MANAGER'S RECOMMENDED ACTION: It is the recommendation of the City Manager that the City Council adopt Alternative No. 1, thereby directing the City Attorney to develop an ordinance to prohibit parking at all times on the east side of Wilder and Hartford Drive and on the north side of Durant Street.
