HomeMy WebLinkAboutA001 - Council Action Form dated November 23, 2004 ^ FD Item # "10 Date: November 23, 2004 COUNCIL ACTION FORM SUBJECT: ADDING ALAN DRIVE (FROM FIFTH STREET TO NORTHWESTERN AVENUE) TO THE SNOW ROUTE LIST BACKGROUND: During the recent annual evaluation of snow routes, it was discovered that, while Alan Drive is shown on the Snow Route Map, there is no ordinance designating the street as being a snow route. Designating streets as snow routes allows plowing operations to proceed much more efficiently and effectively. Stopping, standing, or parking a vehicle on a street designated as a snow route is prohibited when a public announcement is made placing the snow ordinance into effect. Parking on snow routes is prohibited from the time the snow ordinance goes into effect until snow removal operations have been completed. Vehicles found parked in violation of the parking prohibition are subject to being ticketed and towed. The cost of the tow is the responsibility of the vehicle owner. ALTERNATIVES: 1. Direct the City Attorney to develop an ordinance to add Alan Drive (from Fifth Street to Northwestern Avenue) to the Snow Route list. 2. Do nothing, and delete Alan Drive (from Fifth Street-to Northwestern Avenue) from the Snow Route Map. MANAGER'S RECOMMENDED ACTION: It is the recommendation of the City Manager that the City Council adopt alternative number one above, and direct the City Attorney to develop an ordinance to add Alan Drive (from Fifth Street to Northwestern Avenue) to the Snow Route list. COUNCIL ACTION:
