ORDINANCE NO. 3799
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY OF AMES,
IOWA,FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAKING A CERTAIN AREA SUBJECT TO TEMPORARY
RESTRICTIONS ON THE DEMOLITION OR DEVELOPMENT OF BUILDINGS;
REPEALING ANY AND ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
TO THE EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT; PROVIDING A PENALTY; AND
ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ENACTED,by the City Council for the City of Ames,Iowa:
Section One. The Official Zoning Map of the City of Ames,Iowa,established by Section 29.301 of the Ames
Municipal Code, is amended, in the manner authorized by Section 29.301 Ames Municipal Code, to show that land
described as:
All of Lot 5 and the Southern 30 feet of Lot 6,Beardshear's Addition to Ames,Block 2,in Section
9,T83N,R24W of the 5'PM in Ames,Story County,Iowa.
And
Beginning at the southwest corner of J P Duthie's Subdivision,said point being on the centerline of
Knapp Street;thence easterly a distance of 1082.61 feet, more of less, along said centerline to the
centerline of Ash Avenue;thence northerly along said centerline a distance of 128.8 feet,more or less;
thence westerly a distance of 278.55 feet,more or less;thence northerly 60 feet,more or less,to the
northeast corner of Lot 4 Little's Subdivision;thence westerly a distance of 270.55 feet,more or less,
to the northwest corner of Little's Subdivision,said point being the centerline of Lynn Avenue;thence
southerly along said centerline a distance of 102.5 feet,more or less;thence westerly 167.5 feet,more
or less;thence northerly 110 feet,more or less to a point on the north line of Duthie's Subdivision;
thence westerly 180.5 feet,more or less,along the said north line of said subdivision;thence southerly
a distance of 56 feet,more or less;thence westerly a distance of 204.91 feet,more or less,to the west
line of said subdivision,said point being on the centerline of Stanton Avenue;thence southerly along
said centerline a distance of 113.5 feet,more or less,to the point of beginning. All in the 5`'P.M.,
Ames,Story County,Iowa.

Beginning at the northwest corner of the NE'/4 of Section 9 T83N R24W of the 5'P.M.,Ames,Story
County,Iowa;thence easterly a distance of 221.9 feet,more or less,to a point on the centerline of
Stanton Avenue;thence southerly a distance of 107 feet,more or less,along said centerline;thence
westerly a distance of 141.9 feet,more or less;thence southerly a distance of 84.8 feet,more or less;
thence westerly a distance of 80 feet,more or less,to a point on the east line of the NE t/4 of the NW
t/4 of said Section 9; thence southerly a distance of 69.4 feet,more or less, along said line; thence
westerly a distance of 12 feet,more or less;thence southerly a distance of 40 feet,more or less;thence
easterly a distance of 12 feet,more or less,to a point on the east line of the NE'/4 of the NW'/4 of said
Section 9;thence southerly along said line a distance of 174 feet,more or less,to the southeast corner
of Lot 5,Beardshear's Addition;thence west a distance of 223 feet,more or less,along the south line
of said Lot 5 to the centerline of Welch Avenue;thence north along said centerline a distance of 10.9
feet, more or less, to the centerline of Chamberlain Street; thence westerly along said centerline a
distance of 161.5 feet, more or less; thence northerly a distance of 93 feet, more or less; thence
westerly a distance of 60 feet,more or less,to the southwest corner of Lot 30 of Auditor's Plat Block
3,4,and 5 Beardshear's Addition and Walter's Subdivision;thence northerly a distance of 60 feet,
more or less,along the west line of said lot;thence easterly a distance of 6.55 feet,more or less,along
the north line of said Lot 30 to the southwest corner of Lot 28 of said subdivision;thence northerly
184 feet, more or less; thence westerly a distance of 211.6 feet, more or less, to a point on the
centerline of Hayward Avenue; thence northerly a distance of 129 feet, more or less, along said
centerline to the north line of said Section 9; thence east along the north line of said Section 9 a
distance of 649.35 feet,more or less,to the point of beginning
shall be subject to the applicability of the zoning regulations stated in Section 29.1107,TEMPORARY DEFERRAL
ON DEMOLITION AND DEVELOPMENT of the Ames Municipal Code, as an overlay to the established zoning
district regulations,during the period beginning after passage and publication as required by law,and ending the I"day
of January,2005.
Section Two. Violation of the provisions of this ordinance shall constitute a municipal infraction punishable
as set out in Section 29.1603 of the Municipal Code.
Section Three. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of
such conflict,if any.
Section Four. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as
required by law and shall end on the 1"day of January,2005.
