HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Establishing Regulations for the Commercial Vehicle Loading Zone ORDINANCE NO. 3792 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA, BY REPEALING SUBSECTION 18.30(1)(a)(v)AND ENACTING A NEW SECTION 18.30.1, ALL FOR THE PURPOSE OF REMOVING 2513 HUNT STREET FROM THE TRUCK LOADING ZONE REGULATIONS AND MAKING THAT PLACE SUBJECT TO NEW REGULATIONS FOR A COMMERCIAL VEHICLE LOADING ZONE;REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH TO THE EXTENT OF ANY SUCH CONFLICT;PROVIDING A PENALTY;AND,ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ENACTED,by the City Council for the City of Ames,Iowa,that: Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa shall be and is hereby amended by repealing Subsection 18.30(1)(a)(v)thereof and renumbering subsections accordingly. Section Two. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames,Iowa is amended further by adopting a new Section 18.30.1 as follows: "18.30.1 Commercial Loading Zones (1) Definitions: (a) Commercial vehicle: a motor vehicle that is professionally painted with permanent indelible paint in such a manner as to identify the vehicle as one that is used by and for a specific commercial enterprise. (b) Commercial loading zone: a part of a segment of a street that is so designated by this section. (2) No vehicle except a commercial vehicle shall park in a commercial loading zone. (3) A commercial vehicle maypark in a commercial loading zone for not longer than thirty minutes while such vehicle is being loaded or unloaded with items being taken into or out of premises in the vicinity of the commercial loading zone. (4) Commercial loading zones are designated as follows: (a) The parking spaces along the curb of the north lane of that segment of Hunt Street that abuts on 2513 Hunt Street. Section Three. The Municipal Code of the city of Ames,Iowa is amended further by adopting a new Subsection 18.31(127)(e)as follows: (e) Angle parking is permitted on the north side of Hunt Street from Welch Avenue a distance of 100'to the west." Section Four. Violation of this ordinance shall be a misdemeanor punishable as provided by law. Section Five. Any and all ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section Six. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as required by law. Done this 24th day of August ,2004.
