COUNCIL ACTION FORM
SUBJECT: REVISION OF PARKING REGULATIONS ON WINDFIELD DRIVE
BACKGROUND:
It was noted by staff that the parking ordinance for Windfield Drive is not in agreement
with the signs in the field. The current ordinance prohibits parking on the north side
beginning at Hyde Avenue. Because of changes in the final layout of the area,
Windfield Drive does not intersect Hyde Avenue; therefore, the reference needs to be to
the west end of the street.
The current ordinance also prohibits parking on both sides of Windfield Drive from
Eisenhower Avenue to Columbine Circle. There are not any "no parking" signs on the
north side of the street in this area. Furthermore, there does not appear to be any
reason to prohibit parking on the north side of the street from Eisenhower Avenue to
Columbine Circle. Staff contacted residents and learned that they preferred to leave the
parking as it is currently signed.
ALTERNATIVES:
1. Direct the City Attorney to develop an ordinance to prohibit parking on the north
side of Windfield Drive from the west end of Windfield Drive to Eisenhower Avenue and
on the south side of Windfield Drive from Eisenhower Avenue to Columbine Circle
reflecting current signing in the field.
2. Take no action and do not revise the parking ordinance for Windfield Drive. This
would require changes to the parking signs in the field, which would include no parking
signs installed on the north side of Windfield Drive from Eisenhower Avenue to
Columbine Circle.
MANAGER'S RECOMMENDED ACTION:
It is the recommendation of the City Manager that the City Council adopt alternative
number one above and direct the City Attorney to develop an ordinance to prohibit
parking on the north side of Windfield Drive from the west end of Windfield Drive to
Eisenhower Avenue and on the south side of Windfield Drive from Eisenhower Avenue
to Columbine Circle reflecting current signing in the field.
