Re: Insurance Requirements Ordinance Technical Amendment
Dear Mayor Tedesco and Council Members:
Attached please find a technical revision to an ordinance that was passed in April of this year requiring
motorists to have insurance.
This amendment is being proposed for the purpose of allowing police officers to issue these violations
more easily when using an electronic ticket machine. To enable the machine to print those tickets with
the fine amount on them, the ordinance needs to specify a separate subsection for each of the two
available penalties. Those subsections can then be put into the machine's memory. This amendment
just sets the penalties out in separate subsections, whereas the previous ordinance did not.
Your favorable consideration of it is requested.
Yours truly,
Judy K. Parks
Assistant City Attorney
