HomeMy WebLinkAboutA001 - Council Action Form dated April 13, 2004 p Ln C F fo Item # 0;1< Date April 13, 2004 COUNCIL ACTION FORM SUBJECT: REVISION OF PARKING REGULATIONS ON GREEN HILLS DRIVE BACKGROUND: In early March, staff received a petition from three residents on the 2500 block of Green Hills Drive requesting that parking be allowed on the street. Staff checked the city code and determined that on Green Hills Drive parking is not allowed from Elwood Drive to Oakwood Road. The width of the 2500 block of Green Hills Drive is 26 feet, which does not allow enough room for two lanes of traffic if cars are parked on both sides of the street. Therefore, parking needs to be prohibited on one side of the street. Consequently, staff considered the possibility of allowing parking on the west side of the 2500 block of Green Hills Drive. A review of the block determined that there are four property owners on this street that would be directly impacted if parking were allowed. While conducting this study, staff was advised by the petitioner that the fourth property owner had contacted him and did not object to allowing parking. As a result, all four property owners on this block support the petition. Based on the above information, staff recommends allowing parking on the west side of the street. ALTERNATIVES: 1. Direct the City Attorney to develop an ordinance to allow parking on the west side of the 2500 block of Green Hills Drive. 2. Take no action and do not change parking restrictions on Green Hills Drive. MANAGER'S RECOMMENDED ACTION: It is the recommendation of the City Manager that the City Council adopt alternative number one above and direct the City Attorney to develop an ordinance to allow parking on the west side of the 2500 block of Green Hills Drive.
