HomeMy WebLinkAboutA001 - Council Action Form dated March 2, 2004 iR 5 Item # CAF Date March 2, 2004 COUNCIL ACTION FORM SUBJECT: REVISION OF PARKING REGULATIONS ON KITTY HAWK DRIVE BACKGROUND: Council approved the final plat of Airport Road Subdivision last fall. At that time, it was noted that there were no parking regulations on the street. Kitty Hawk Drive is 31 feet wide, which does not allow enough room for two lanes of traffic if cars are parked on both sides of the street. Therefore, parking needs to be prohibited on one side of the street. The fire hydrants along this facility are on the north side of the street. Therefore, the maximum amount of parking could be provided on the south side of the street. Consequently, staff recommends prohibiting parking on the north side of the street. ALTERNATIVES: 1 . Direct the City Attorney to develop an ordinance to create parking regulations on Kitty Hawk Drive to prohibit parking on the north side of the street from South Duff Avenue west to the end of the street. 2. Take no action and do not install parking restrictions on Kitty Hawk Drive. MANAGER'S RECOMMENDED ACTION: It is the recommendation of the City Manager that the City Council adopt alternative number one above and direct the City Attorney to develop an ordinance to create parking regulations on Kitty Hawk Drive to prohibit parking on the north side of the street from South Duff Avenue west to the end of the street.
