The request for rezoning is concurrent with a request for annexation of this property and has been made as a means to establish zoning consistent with the remainder of the Ames Middle School site. The Ames Planning and Zoning Commission considered the annexation and rezoning request at the Commission meeting on August 20. The request for voluntary annexation was approved by the Commission and received no public comment. Our understanding is that a decision to waive the requirement for three readings of the rezoning action would allow concurrent action on the voluntary annexation and rezoning request at the City Council meeting on September 23. On behalf of the Ames Community School District I appreciate your consideration of this request. Sincerely, Steve Carter Director of Facilities Planning&Management Ames Community School District Cc: W. Ray Richardson Tim Taylor Tom Penney Richard Janssen An Equal Opportunity Employer Page 1
