HomeMy WebLinkAboutA021 - Resolution No. 06-113 adopted March 28, 2006 RESOLUTION NO. 06_113 RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENTS TO THE PLAN FOR THE CAMPUSTOWN URBAN REVITALIZATION AREA WHEREAS,by Resolution No. 01-462 adopted October 9,2001,an urban revitalization area was designated as the Campustown Revitalization Area; and WHEREAS,by the aforesaid resolution,the Campustown Urban Revitalization Plan was approved and adopted for said area; and WHEREAS,the Campustown Urban Revitalization Plan made eligible for tax abatement properties within said area qualifying under the Urban Revitalization Campustown Matrix Criteria; and WHEREAS, it is now desired to delete from the eligibility criteria the use of stone, pre-cast concrete, and concrete block with relief; and WHEREAS,it is now desired to add to the eligibility criteria buildings that were originally built on the site before 1941 on which seventy percent(70%) of the area of existing exterior walls of the structure will remain, and on which the original or historic materials and designs are preserved or restored; and WHEREAS,the required notice of public hearing has occurred pursuant to subsection 404.2(6)of the Code of Iowa. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,by the City Council for the City of Ames,Iowa,that: Section One. The rehabilitation, conservation, redevelopment, economic development, or a combination thereof with respect to the said area was declared and is again declared necessary in the interest of the public health, safety, or welfare of the residents of the City. Section Two. The Campustown Urban Revitalization Area has been declared to meet and is again declared to meet the criteria of Section 404.1 of the Code of Iowa, and has been declared and is again declared appropriate for designation as an urban renewal area for purposes of Section 404.3(6)of the Code of Iowa. Section Three. The Campustown Urban Revitalization Plan for the said area is hereby amended to delete from the eligibility criteria the use of stone,pre-cast concrete, and concrete block with relief and to the eligibility criteria buildings that were originally built on the site before 1941 on which seventy percent (70%)of the area of existing exterior walls of the structure will remain and on which the original or historic materials and designs are preserved or restored.
