Dear Ms Voss: T
Thank you for sending me a copy of the map of the proposed ward and precinct boundaries in Ames.
The Story County Democratic Central Committee discussed the map at our monthly meeting last night
j and asked me to thank all city and county officials who worked on this very important project. All
members agreed the boundaries clearly reflect well defined population centers throughout the city. The
committee was especially pleased with the effort to group ISU students into two separate campus
precincts_ We feel this will help reduce confusion in finding student polling places and thereby increase
voter turnout. We also were relieved to see an effort was made to maintain many of the previous
boundaries, which will enable the County Auditor to preserve many of the same polling places.
The only suggestion to come from the Central Committee is to change proposed precinct numbers to
reflect their current numbers wherever possible. We therefore recommend changing the following
precinct numbers:
'Ward 3 -Precinct 1,back to Ward 3 -Precinct 2
✓lard 3 -Precinct 2,back to Ward 3 -Precinct 1
Ward 4-Precinct 1,back to Ward 4 -Precinct 5
v Vard 4-Precinct 2,back to Ward 4-Precinct 4
:'Ward 4 -Precinct 4,back to Ward 4-Precinct 1
^ard 4 -Precinct 5,back to Ward 4 - Precinct 2
The group feels that by maintaining existing precinct numbers, confusion among voters will be
significantly reduced.
Again, special thanks go to all city and county officials for their efforts on behalf of the Ames voting
public.
Sinc rely,
