There is no need for you to submit a new letter. I had the City Clerk's office check the City Council referrals for the past year. Sure enough, you submitted a letter requesting an extension of the commercial tax abatement in Somerset to the City Council. The Council referred that item to staff at their meeting on April 27, 2004. However, staff never responded to the request. We will put together a report and try to have it on the City Council's agenda for February 22, 2005. Again Chuck, I apologize for the delay. This somehow fell through the cracks and should have been back to the City Council many months ago. With regard to your request to amend the approval process for townhouses in the FS Zoning District (Major vs. Minor Site Plan), that item will be on the Planning and Zoning Commission agenda for February 16, 2005 and on first reading before City Council on February 22, 2005. As this is relatively a minor amendment, staff is supportive of the change. It is a text amendment to the Zoning Ordinance, and will require three readings before City Council. You could request waiver of the three readings from the City Council if needed. It will ultimately be up to the City Council whether or not they want to waive the future readings. You are correct, that amendment expired this past spring/summer. The appropriate procedure to request an extension would be for you to submit a letter to the Mayor and City Council requesting the extension. The Mayor and Council will refer the request to staff. Staff would then analyze the request and prepare a report for the City Council to review and they could either approve or deny the request. y f I am sorry if you have been inconvenienced waiting for a response from our office. Once you have submitted your request to the Mayor and City Council, and they refer it to staff, we will get it back to City Council as soon as we can. Let me know if you need anything further. Thanks Chuck, ecj Eric C. I asked prior to last May when it was set expire and have yet to get a response. As you know I currently have a request in front of the City Council to change the master plan to accommodate more commercial area but would like to know where we stand on the request that was made several months ago.
