Dear Ames City Counsel,
We just wanted to write and let you know that we fully support the ban against
smoking. We would have preferred the original bill that you folks attempted to pass I Iwo
but we think the compromise has worked out fairly well. The exception for places like
bowling alleys, pool halls, and trucl<stops seems really unfair(in particular for the
Corner pocket which now gets a lot of Whiskey }livers business until 8.30 p.m.).
We would love to see the ban go across the board for the sake of fairness.
If there is anything we can do to assist in fighting the lawsuits please let us know. We
are going to write letters to the businesses that we freCluent to let them Know that we
go to their establishments more now than ever since the cloud of smoke no longer
Lovers over us as we try to enjoy ourselves. Thanks to all of you for working so hard
