The general consensus around here is that it has generally been neutral as far as business impact. There were a few restaurants who gave that as their reason for closing after the ordinance passed. However people from surrounding communities have also reported that they come to our restaurants because of the smoking ban. By the way, a restaurant can still provide a smoking area although there are some design issues which make it costly. Apparantly the raw Ws regarding restaurant sales show a continual increase however in our economy that is normal so it is difficult to quantifiably determine the impact. You might call the Chamber of Commerce at 480-969-1307 to get their spin on it. Take care. 10/17/2000
