AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF
AMES,IOWA,BY REPEALING SUBSECTIONS 18.31(107)AND 18.31(247)
AND ENACTING NEW SUBSECTIONS 18.31(107) AND 18.31(247) FOR
THE PURPOSE OF PROHIBITING PARKING ON PORTIONS OF WEST
STREET AND HOWARD AVENUE; REPEALING ANY AND ALL
ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT TO THE
EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT; PROVIDING A PENALTY; AND
ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ENACTED,by the City Council for the City of Ames,Iowa,that:
Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa shall be and the same is hereby amended by
repealing subsections 18.31(107)and 18.31(247)and enacting new subsections 18.31(107)and 18.31(247)as follows:
"Sec.18.31(107). HOWARD AVENUE.
(1) Parking is prohibited on Mondays,Wednesdays and Fridays on the west side and
on Tuesdays,Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays on the east side from Midnight to 9:00 p.m. from
Lincoln Way to West Street;
(2) Parking is prohibited in front of 215 Howard Avenue at all times;
(3) Parking is prohibited within 5'of any driveway along Howard Avenue from West
Street to Lincoln Way.
Sec.18.31(247). WEST STREET.
(1) Parking is prohibited at all times from Colorado Avenue to Franklin Avenue;
(2) Parking is prohibited at all times on the south side of West Street from a point 85.1
feet west of the west line of Campus Avenue to Woodland Street;
(3) Parking is prohibited at all times on the north side from Sheldon to Woodland
Street;
(4) Parking is prohibited on Monday,Wednesday and Friday on the south side and on
Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday on the north side from Midnight to 9:00 p.m. from
Colorado Avenue to Woodland Street;
(5) Parking is prohibited within 10'of all driveways along West Street from Woodland
Street to Wilmoth.Avenue;
(6) Parking is prohibited along both sides of West Street for 130'west of the Woodland
Street intersection.

Section Two. Violation of the provisions of this ordinance shall constitute a simple misdemeanor punishable
as set out by law.
Section Three. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of
such conflict,if any.
Section Four. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as
required by law.
