HomeMy WebLinkAboutA006 - Superseded ordinance with errors i/N ID ORDINANCE NO.3585 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SUBSECTIONS 6.9(4), 6.9(5) AND 6.11(1) AND READOPTING THOSE SUBSECTIONS TO REVISE THE BOUNDARIES FOR SECOND WARD PRECINCTS FOUR AND FIVE AND FOURTH WARD PRECINCT ONE;AND ENACTING NEW SUBSECTIONS 6.11(6)and 6.9(6) TO ADD A PRECINCT TO THE SECOND WARD AND TO THE FOURTH WARD, AND ENACTING A NEW SECTION 6.14 FOR THE PURPOSE OF ASSIGNING ANNEXED AREAS TO WARDS AND PRECINCTS; REPEALING ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT TO THE EXTENT OF CONFLICT, AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ENACTED,by the City Council for the City of Ames,Iowa,that: Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa shall be and the same is hereby amended by repealing subsections 6.9(4),6.9(5)and 6.1 l(1)and readopting those subsections revised to state: "Sec.6.9. SECOND WARD VOTING PRECINCTS. The Second Ward is divided into voting precincts as follows: (4) Second Ward,Precinct No.4 consists of that part of the Second Ward bounded by a line described as beginning at a point on Dawes Drive that intersects with the north corporate limits of the city;then south along the centerline of Dawes Drive to Adams Street;then west along the centerline of Adams Street to Calhoun Avenue;then south along the centerline of Calhoun Avenue to Top-O-Hollow Road;then west along the centerline of Top-O-Hollow Road to Hoover Avenue;then south along the centerline of Hoover Avenue to Twenty-Fourth Street;then east along the centerline of Twenty-Fourth Street to Northwestern Avenue;then south along the centerline of Northwestern Avenue to Twentieth Street;then west along the centerline of Twentieth Street to the Union Pacific railroad tracks,then northwest along the center of said tracks to Twenty-Fourth Street;the northwest along the west line of the said Union Pacific railroad tracks to Bloomington Road;then west along the centerline of Bloomington Road to the west line of the City of Ames water tower site;then north to a point of intersection with the Union Pacific tracks; then southeast along the said Union Pacific railroad tracks to a point that is 390.5 feet north of the south line of the north half of sections 27 and 28,Township 84,Range 24 west of the 5th P.M.;then east along a line equidistant from said south line of the said sections 27 and 28 to the point of intersection with the west line of Stonebrooke Subdivision;then north along the said west line of Stonebrooke Subdivision to the north corporate limits of the City,then east along said north corporate limits to the point of beginning. (5) Second Ward,Precinct No.5 consists of that part of the Second Ward bounded by a line described as beginning at a point where the Union Pacific railroad tracks intersect Twenty- Fourth Street;then south along the centerline of said Union Pacific railroad tracks to Twentieth Street; then west on Twentieth Street to Ridgewood Avenue;then south along the centerline of Ridgewood Avenue to Surrunit Avenue;then south along the centerline of Summit Avenue to Crescent Street;then south along the centerline of Crescent Street to Thirteenth Street;then west along the centerline of Thirteenth Street to Squaw Creek;then northwest along the centerline of Squaw Creek to a point of intersection with the corporate limits; then north along said corporate limits to Bloomington Road, then east on Bloomington Road to George W. Carver Avenue,then south along George W. Carver Avenue to Twenty-Fourth Street;then east along Twenty-Fourth Street to the point of beginning. (Ord.No. 3142, Sec. 1, 9-10-91) Sec.6.11. FOURTH WARD VOTING PRECINCTS. (1) Fourth Ward,Precinct No.1 shall consist of that part of the Fourth Ward bounded by a line described as beginning at the point where North Dakota Avenue intersects the corporate limits west of its centerline;then south along the centerline of North Dakota Avenue to Clear Creek; then east along Clear Creek to Hyland Avenue;then south along the centerline of Hyland Avenue to Oakland Street;then west along the centerline of Oakland Street to Franklin Avenue;then south along the centerline of Franklin Avenue to West Street; then east along the centerline of West Street to Colorado Avenue; then south along the centerline of Colorado Avenue to Lincoln Way; then west along the centerline of Lincoln Way to the west corporate limits; then proceeding northerly and westerly along the corporate limits to Ontario Street,then continuing north along the west line of Patio Homes West Subdivision to the north corporate limits;then east along the said corporate limits to the point of beginning." Section Two. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames,Iowa,shall be and is hereby amended by enacting new subsections 6.9(6)and 6.11(6)as follows: "Sec.6.9. SECOND WARD VOTING PRECINCTS. (6) Second Ward,Precinct No.6 consists of that part of the Second Ward bounded by a line beginning at the point where the west line of Stonebrooke Subdivision meets the north corporate limits; then south along the west line of the Stonebrooke Subdivision to a point of intersection with a line that is 390.5 feet north of and equidistant from the south lines of the north half of sections 27 and 28 of Township 84,Range 24 West of the 5th P.M.;then west along that line to the point of intersection with the Union Pacific railroad tracks;then north along the Union Pacific railroad tracks to the point of intersection with the west line of the City of Ames water tower site;then south along the west line of the said water tower site to Bloomington Road;then east on Bloomington Road to the Union Pacific railroad tracks then south along the Union Pacific railroad tracks to Twenty- Fourth Street; then west along Twenty-Fourth Street to George W. Carver Avenue; then north on George W.Carver Avenue to the north corporate limits;then east along the north corporate limits to the point of beginning. Sec.6.11. FOURTH WARD VOTING PRECINCTS. (6) Fourth Ward,Precinct No.6 shall consist of that part of the Fourth Ward bounded on the east by the west line of Patio Homes West Subdivision;bounded on the south by Ontario Street; bounded on the west by the west corporate limits;and,bounded on the north by the north corporate limits. Section Three. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames,Iowa,shall be and is hereby amended by enacting a new section 6.14 as follows: "Sec.6.14. ANNEXATIONS. (1) The area annexed by City of Ames Resolution No. 96-443 and 91-174 shall be in Ward One,Precinct No. 1; (2) The area annexed by City of Ames Resolution Nos.96-396,99-284,97-476,95-532, 92-270,and I.S.L. 85-001-01 and 85-001-04 shall be in Ward One,Precinct No. 3; (3) The area annexed by City of Ames Resolution No. 91-194 shall be Ward Three, Precinct No. 1; (4) The area annexed by City of Ames Resolution Nos.99-397,94-41,93-19,and 93- 292 shall be Ward Three,Precinct No.4; (5) The area annexed by City of Ames Resolution Nos.95-333,96-15,00-317,94-393 and 92-271,and I.S.L. 85-001-02 and 85-001-03 shall be Ward T e, cinct No. 5; (6) The area annexed by City of Ames Resolution No 00-217 00-388,and 00-389 shall be Ward Three,Precinct No. 5." UV Section Four. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict,if any. Section Five.
