HomeMy WebLinkAboutA003 - Letter from Roger Zielke supporting change of zoning 06/20/00 TUE 09:49 FAX 515 232 3595 AG LEADER TECHNOLOGY C]001 To: Brian O'Connell Department of Planning& Housing 515 Clark Avenue, P.O. Box 811 Ames, IA 50010 Date: 6-15-00 Re: Rezoning Dear Brian: I received a letter from Ray Anderson notifying me of a meeting on June 7th, to consider the request from Jensen Development Corporation to rezone the property located at 4540 and 4612 Steinbeck Street; and the Preliminary Plat for Dauntless Subdivision, e Addition, located on the west side of South Dakota Avenue and the north side of Mortensen Road. I could not attend the meeting, but Ray told me to write you a letter to express my opinion. I understand that the rezoning will change the property from CNN to R-H. All the properties surrounding the property to be rezoned have existing apartment buildings. My wife and I own one of these apartment buildings located on 4549 Steinbeck. My property is directly across the street from a significant portion of the property considered for rezoning. I am 100% in favor of this change of zoning. The apartment buildings on Steinbeck and Dickinson Street have been very popular for attracting tenants and overall have been a very successful development. I can't think of a single reason why commercial buildings, like a restaurant, should be in the middle of this already established apartment community. Commercial buildings would seem "out of place" if built on these properties. I also will not be able to attend the City Council meeting on June 271h so please express my opinion there. Thank you, Roger R. Zielk 268-0293 rzielke@agleader.com (A copy of this letter will be sent to Diane Voss, City Clerk) ............
