Dear Mayor and Council:
This is to express concern over the proposed zoning of commercial areas in
the City of Ames.
In the process of working with the CCN (Community Commercial Node) in
west Ames, we learned of the details of that zoning district. it seems to fit that
location, but we question the wisdom of including the campus-town area in
--- --- -,- --.- that same zone.
Brian O'Connell has indicated that a change ct maximum to minimum for lot
areas will be forthcoming. We agree this makes sense far new
development, but question the wisdom of this for the existing campus-town
area. Will the campus-town area become a substantially non-conforming
use because of area? If so, what does future development of this area look
like?
Also, what is the proposed zoning of the HY-VEE west commercial? Is this
area not similar to the CCN as proposed in the land-use plan?
Sincerely,
for Roseland Architects
