Under current zoning our project would require 55 parking spaces. It is designed for 50 underground spaces and up to an additional 18 above ground spaces. This plan has been approved by The City of Ames. As we stated in our letter of March 31, the prospect of an Urban Revitalization Zone designation was a big factor in designing the project for underground parking. This was so even though the underground parking substantially increased the cost in excess of any tax abatement savings. The Council took action 2 weeks ago. Our plans seem to be consistent with your action. The urgency, as we see it, is because we probably would lose our eligibility if construction is started before the Revitalization is finalized.
