Dear Mayor and City Council:
Representatives of the Ames Chamber of Commerce met with the City's Lighting Task
Force on May 13th.
We requested changes in the proposed ordinance regarding maximum lighting levels, light
trespass, on-premise signs and the penalty provisions. The City's Lighting Task Force
accepted these suggestions. Given these changes, the Ames Chamber of Commerce
Executive Committee, on behalf of the Board of Directors, approved support of the
revised ordinance at its meeting on May 19th.
Thank you for allowing us an additional opportunity to provide input on this issue.
Sincerely,
David L. Maahs
Executive Director
