HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Parking Prohibitions on Bell Avenue and Southeast Fifth Street ORDINANCE NO. 3525 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SUBSECTIONS 18.31(20) AND 18.31(211) AND ENACTING NEW SUBSECTIONS 18.31(20) AND 18.31(211)FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROHIBITING PARKING ON PORTIONS OF BELL AVENUE AND SOUTHEAST FIFTH STREET; REPEALING ANY AND ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT TO THE EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT; PROVIDING A PENALTY; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ENACTED, by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa, that: Section Oue. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa shall be and the same is hereby amended by repealing Subsections 18.31(20)and 18.31(211)and enacting new Subsections as follows: "(20) BELL AVENUE. (a) Parking is prohibited on both sides of Bell Avenue from Graham to the south end of Bell Avenue. (b) Parking is prohibited within thirty-five(35)feet of any driveway. (211) SOUTHEAST FIFTH STREET. (a) Parking is prohibited on both sides of all segments of Southeast Fifth Street between Freel Drive and the east end of Southeast Fifth Street. (b) Parking is prohibited on both sides at all times from 550' east of Duff for a distance of 160' east." Section Two. Violation of the provisions of this ordinance shall constitute a simple misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed$100 or by imprisonment not to exceed 30 days. Section Three. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict, if any. Section Four. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as required by law. Passed this 25-th clay of Flay 1999. Diane R.
