HomeMy WebLinkAboutA001 - Petition from residents in support of parking change "f A4— - December 7, 1998 v) Mr. Steve Shainker \ 515 Clark / r Ames, Iowa 50010 x Dear Mr. Shainker, w" The undersigned residents of the West end of Ross Road in Ames, Iowa are in support of changing the parking allowance on our street. Since our neighborhood meeting on Monday November 16, 1998 the parking situation has gotten worse. Almost every night there are from eight to twleve cars parked overnight that do not belong to anyone living on Ross Road. There are beer cans thrown on the street regularly. The students from the Alpine Manor apartments come and go at all hours of the night and are very noisy and if asked to park elsewhere are very rude. They are also still parking in areas that are no parking. The parking regulation we are requesting is the following: No parking midnight to 6 a.rrL on Ross Road from North Dakota to Arizona. Thank you for your time and consideration. #D 7 ro )d(". -7cs z 9z L </ y r r r c We, the undersigned residents of the West end of Ross Road in Ames, Iowa, are in support of changing the parking allowance on our street. Our end of Ross Road has become very hazardous because the renters in the Alpine Apartments on North Dakota Avenue park on Ross Road instead of in the parking lots at their apartments. Most of the time there is,only room for one lane of traffic because both sides of the street are parked full with the renters from the Alpine Apartments. There are young children living on this street and it would be almost impossible to see a child running out from behind one of the parked cars. It will soon be snow removal time and the way the street is always parked full of the Alpine Apartment renter's.cars on both sides of the street, snow removal would be almost impossible. We , all homeowners and taxpayers, feel that it is unfair that we should have to put up with this, especially since most of the time there are several (as many as 30 plus) open parking spaces in the Alpine Apartments for these renters. We have asked several times for the individuals to park elsewhere and most of the time all we get are smart remarks from them. On top of all this, they come and go constantly at all hours of the day and night and a lot of their cars do not appear to have mufflers, and they seem to enjoy reving up their engines. Some of us have been awakened several times during the night because of the noise. At times these renters park in spots that really aren't large enough for their car and they partially block driveways which makes it hard for the homeowner to back out of their driveway. There are signs on the corner of Ross Road and North Dakota indicating "no parking from here to comer"--They park up to the corner anyway. Please help us with this situation before someone gets hurt. The parking allowance we,are asking for is the following: Alternate parking on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, on one side and Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday on the other side. No more than 4 hours parking at any time. No parking between the hours of 2 a.m and 6 a.m. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. Sincerely, The residents of the West end of Ross Road NAME ADDRESS PHONE ` 44m j C%) -- ()t o) 71 -,z 'o .;2- Z _ Y 7 43 9 11 5: ql 'J 4W9 D wcsss Zq2-
