AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF
AMES,IOWA,BY REPEALING SECTIONS 7.304 AND 21.304 OF THE AMES
MUNICIPAL CODE FOR THE PURPOSE OF STATING EXEMPTIONS FROM
ELECTRICIANS'AND PLUMBERS' LICENSES WITH RESPECT TO MOBILE
HOME INSTALLATIONS; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT;AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ENACTED, by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa, that:
Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa shall be and the same is hereby amended by
repealing Sections 7.304 and 21.304 and re-adopting said Sections revised to state as follows:
"Sec. 7.304. EXEMPTIONS.
(1) No such license or registration procedure shall be required for alteration or repair
work to be performed on a single family residential structure when the person performing the alteration
or repair work is the owner of the structure, and has his or her legal residence there. The homeowner
shall be automatically termed a Licensee/Registrant for the purposes of such a project.
Notwithstanding such relief from licensing/registration, all requirements for permits for the work shall
remain in force.
(2) No license or registration procedure shall be required for a mobile home dealer or
the employee of a mobile home dealer to perform electrical connections in a mobile home space or
within ten feet of such space, located in a mobile home park, all within the meaning and intent of
Section 322B.3(5)Code of Iowa. The requirements for permits and inspections remain in effect, and
the mobile home dealer shall pay the permit and inspection fees.
Sec. 21.304. EXEMPTIONS.

employee of a mobile home dealer to perform water, gas, or utility service connections in a mobile
home space or within ten feet of such space, located in a mobile home park, all within the meaning and
intent of Section 322B.3(5) Code of Iowa. The requirements for permits and inspections remain in
effect, and the mobile home dealer shall pay the permit and inspection fees."
Section Two. Any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent
of such conflict, if any.
Section Four. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as
required by law.
