HomeMy WebLinkAboutA001 - Letter from Jeffrey S. Fenimore requesting parking on the north side of Camden Drive May 21, 1998 L
Mr. Ted Tedesco, Mayor
City of Ames
515 Clark Avenue
Ames, IA 50010
Dear Mr. Mayor:
I am writing on behalf of the Somerset Developer Group in reference to the street parking
requirements in the Somerset Subdivision.
The Final Plat for the Somerset Second Addition stipulates street parking is to be located on the
south and west sides of all public streets. On Camden Drive, I believe this to be less than
desirable due to the unique lot types. The alley lot types located on the north side of the street
eliminate curb cuts, and the narrower lots on the south side produce a minimal amount of
parking space.
I am requesting that the street parking be located on the north side of Camden Drive and
eliminate parking on the south. This will create the greatest amount of street parking and will
help produce maximum pedestrian activity which is an important aspect of any neighborhood.
I have discussed this street parking proposal with Brian O'Connell and Scott Logan from the
Department of Planning & Housing, and they expressed that it would probably be viewed
favorably by Ames City Staff.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey S. Fenimore, AIA
