ORDINANCE NO. 3478
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP
OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, ADOPTED BY SECTION 29.5
OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA;
CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE DISTRICTS ESTABLISHED
AND SHOWN ON SAID MAP AS PROVIDED IN SECTION 29.6
OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA;
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
BE IT HEREBY ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa;
Section 1: The Official Zoning Map of the City of Ames, Iowa, adopted by Section 29.5
of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, is amended by changing the boundaries of the
districts established and shown on said Map in the manner authorized by Section 29.6 of the
Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows:
That the following described real estate, generally located east of South Duff Avenue between Southeast
Third Street and Southeast Fifth Street is proposed to be rezoned by ordinance from G-I (General
Industrial)to G-C (General Commercial):
PROPERTY DESCRIPTION:
Part of the West Half of the Northeast Quarter of Section. 11, Township 83 North, Range 24 West of the
5th P.M., Ames, Story County, Iowa, more particularly described as follows: Commencing at the Northeast
corner of the Southwest Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of said Section 11;thence N89°26'43"W, 155.58
feet along the north line of the South Half of the Northeast Quarter of said Section 11 to the point of
beginning; thence continuing N89 26 43 W, 469.03 feet to the east line of the west 699.5 feet of the South
Half of the Northeast Quarter of said Section 11;thence S00 59 31 E, 660.82 feet along said east line to
the centerline of Southeast 5th Street;thence N89°58'35"W, 384.23 feet along said centerline to the west
line of the east 224.5 feet of the west 544.5 feet of the Southwest Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of said
Section 11,thence N00 32 30 W, 666.13 feet along said west line to the north line of the South Half of the
Northeast Quarter of said Section 11 and the Southwest corner of Lot 2 in the Subdivision of the Northwest
Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of said Section 11;thence S89 08 11 E, 124.74 feet along the south line
of said Lot 2;thence N00°26'44"W, 334.01 feet to the north line of the South 334 feet of Lot 2 in the
Northwest Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of said Section 11;thence N89°08'24"W, 125.00 feet to the
west line of said Lot 2;thence N00°30'53"W, 22.53 feet along said west line;thence S90°00'00"E, 851.16
feet;thence S00°00'00"E, 366.61 feet to the point of beginning, containing 11.92 acres.

Section 2: All other ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 3: This ordinance is in full force and effect from and after its adoption and
publication as provided by law.
ADOPTED THIS 24 day of March 1998.
