You are hereby notified that the City Council of the City of Ames, Story County, Iowa, will meet at
7:00 p.m. on October 28, 1997, in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 515 Clark Avenue, Ames, Iowa,
to consider a proposed amendment to the Official Zoning Map of the City of Ames, Iowa, by changing
the boundaries of the districts as shown on said map as provided in Section 29.6 of the Municipal Code
of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows:
That the following described real estate, generally located in the Half-Block North of Lincoln Way
between North Maple Avenue and North Oak Avenue, is proposed to be rezoned by ordinance from
R-4 (High-Density Residential)to R-2 (Low-Density Residential), and the Two Half-Blocks North of
Lincoln Way between North Russell Avenue and North Maple Avenue, is proposed to be rezoned by
ordinance from R-3 (Medium-Density Residential) to R-2 (Low-Density Residential).
PROPERTY DESCRIPTION: (North Maple Avenue to North Oak Avenue)
Beginning at the intersection of the Centerline of North Maple Avenue and the Centerline of Lincoln
Way;thence East along the Centerline of Lincoln Way to the Centerline of North Oak Avenue; thence
North along the Centerline of North Oak Avenue to the Centerline of the East-West alley extended,
in Block 6, College Park Addition to Ames; thence West along the Centerline of the East-West alley
in Block 6, College Park Addition to the Centerline of North Maple Avenue; thence South along the
Centerline of North Maple Avenue to the point of beginning.
(North Russell Avenue to North Maple Avenue)
Beginning at the intersection of the Centerline of North Russell Avenue and the Centerline of Lincoln
Way; thence East along the Centerline of Lincoln Way to the Centerline of North Maple Avenue;
thence North along the Centerline of North Maple Avenue to the Centerline of the East-West alley
extended, in Block 7, College Park Addition to Ames; thence West along the Centerline of the East-

You are hereby notified that the proposed ordinance making such a change is on file in the Office of
the City Clerk. Any interested person may appear at the October 28, 1997, Council meeting to testify
for or against the proposed ordinance. Written testimony will also be accepted.

Residential) to R-2 (Low-Density Residential) in the Half-Block of Lincoln Way
Between North Oak Avenue and North Maple Avenue, and Rezoning of 2.84 Acres
(Exclusive of Public Right-of-Way) from R-3 (Medium-Density Residential) to R-2
(Low-Density Residential) in the Two Half-Blocks North of Lincoln Way Between North
Maple Avenue and North Russell Avenue.
The Planning and Zoning Commission will be taking action on the above-described property at their
meeting of October 15, 1997. This will then be considered at the City Council meeting scheduled for
October 28, 1997.
I have attached a copy of the legal descriptions, as well as the labels for the 200' notification.
