Thank you for providing the State with notification of the July 14, 1997 City of Ames Historic Preservation Commission meeting to consider the above referenced amendment to the Historic Preservation Ordinance and for providing a copy of the Department Staff Report on the issue. Judy McClure and I reviewed the following: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SUBSECTION 31.10(6) AND RE- ENACTING THE SAME REVISED TO ALLOW FOR THE LIMITED USE OF NON-WOOD SIDING IN AN HISTORICAL PRESERVATION DISTRICT; REPEALING ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT; AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. The proposed amendment is in compliance with the Secretary of Interior's Standards and Guidelines for Rehabilitation. Passage of the ordinance will not adversely affect the City of Ames participation in the Certified Local Government Program_ If you have questions, please contact me at 515/281-6826.
