RE: Review of Proposed Ordinance that Would Allow Synthetic Siding
Materials in Limited Cases in Historic District.
Thank you for providing the State with notification of the July 14, 1997
City of Ames Historic Preservation Commission meeting to consider the above
referenced amendment to the Historic Preservation Ordinance and for providing
a copy of the Department Staff Report on the issue.
Judy McClure and I reviewed the following:
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF
AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SUBSECTION 31.10(6) AND RE-
ENACTING THE SAME REVISED TO ALLOW FOR THE LIMITED USE
OF NON-WOOD SIDING IN AN HISTORICAL PRESERVATION
DISTRICT; REPEALING ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT; AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.
The proposed amendment is in compliance with the Secretary of Interior's
Standards and Guidelines for Rehabilitation. Passage of the ordinance will not
adversely affect the City of Ames participation in the Certified Local Government
Program_
