HomeMy WebLinkAboutA002 - Letter from Ed and Jean Stout strongly oposing having property included in SFCOD MAR 17 March 14, 1997 To: Planning and Zoning Commission Members City of Ames Council Members Mayor Larry Curtiss Planning and Housing Dept., Brian O'Connell, Ray Anderson, Eden Schmidt Subj: Properties included in Single-Family Conservation Overlay District(SFCOD) We strongly oppose having our property on 918-920 Duff involved in any way with the restrictions of the SFCOD! This unit was built new and put in service in February 1993. This unit is inside the proposed SFCOD; why? Why does the SFCOD extend to the east side of Duff Ave; is it simply because this area is now R-3? On May 26, 1996 we wrote to the Planning and Zoning Commission and asked at the meeting, "is the real agenda to place the proposed overlay moratorium area under the jurisdiction of the Ames Historic Preservation Commission?" Mr. O'Connell stated in the meeting, "no". The proposed SFCOD makes Mr. O'Connell's reply technically correct, but the restrictions indicated in the SFCOD parallel strongly our fears and the intent of the question. Respectfully, Ed and Jean Stout Copy attached: Letter dated May 16, 1996 to the Department of Planning and Housing.
