HomeMy WebLinkAboutA004 - Memo to Council dated November 27, 1996, special meeting MEMO CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE CITY OF AMES TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Bob Kindred, Assistant City Manager DATE: November 27, 1996 SUBJECT: Proposed Lease Agreements with Western Wireless PCS Corporation Attached are copies of background materials prepared for last night's Council meeting which remain relevant for the public hearing on these proposed leases. For your information, after last night's Council meeting members of the Parks and Recreation Commission expressed a desire to meet prior to next Tuesday's Council meeting to review Western's request to place a wireless tower at Homewood Golf Course. A special meeting has been set for this purpose for Monday at 4:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Neighbors in the immediate area of Homewood will also be invited to attend. We expect that the Parks and Recreation Commission will have a recommendation for the City Council by your meeting Tuesday evening. If you are interested in reviewing the visual impact of the tower proposed in Western's Z.B.A. application for the church property at 24th &Hoover, that information is on file in the City Clerk's office. It is noteworthy that the bell tower shown on that application is 198 feet high, in contrast to the 130-ft. tower proposed at Homewood.
