HomeMy WebLinkAboutA004 - letter dated September 20, 1996 from Friedrich-Furman-Hunziker, Somerset Developers SEP; -96,FRI 13:02 FRIEDRICH/IOWA REALTY FAX NO, 5152324253 P, 02 p Q <105 tember 20, 1996 To: Mayor Larry Curtis and the Ames City Council RE: zoning Change Agreement for Northridge Subdivision Honorable Mayor and members of the City Council : WE, the developers of the Northridge and Somerset Subdivisions, request a tabling action on the above agenda item until the October 8, 1996 City Council Meeting for the following reason: this will give adequate time for the developers to work with City staff on preparing a joint agreement for the development of a Somerset Subdivision Concept Plan of a Midwestern Village Concept on the Taylor farm site (Somerset) . We feel that this plan will satisfy most of the design features of a traditional neighborhood design. We are also confident that the plan will accommodate at least 448 Multiple family rental units as specified in the zoning change document as a replacement requirement. The developers agree to comply with this requirement. We hope it is mutually understood that anticipated public acceptance and "marketability" is of utmost importance before we developers can commit the substantial investment into this project. We feel that this new concept plan will be right for Ames and will sell . Time is of the essence. The planning began nearly two years ago. The longer it takes the more it costs. In conclusion: we sincerely believe that we are ready now to move forward with a Midwestern Village Concept that all Ames citizens can be proud of. Sincerely yours , Somerset Developers Friedrich-Furman-Hunziker
