The Local Issues Committee has recommended that the Chamber of Commerce support
the City Staffs position on changes to the regulations dealing with billboards. The
Chamber's Executive Committee voted to support the Local Issues Committee/City Staff
position on billboards at their meeting on August 21, 1996. The City Staff position is as
follows:
• Permit billboards to be 300 square feet in the corridor, along U.S. Highway 30,
but limit billboards to be 200 square feet everywhere else.
• Maintain the current height limit of 50 feet, but require minimum setbacks
equal to or greater than the sign height.
• Spacing between billboards shall be no closer than 600 feet, as measured
along the center of a street upon which the billboard fronts.
• Adoption of a"cap and replace" policy.
We hone this input will be of assistance to you in formulating new regulations dealing with
billboards.
