As you have informed us, the City of Ames has voted to amend the parking ordinance to prohibit on street parking in front of the residence of Dick and Diane Roseland at 315 Hickory Drive at the last council meeting. We were out of town at the time and were unaware that this issue was on the agenda. We support the City's action but feel that it will move the existing problem of the daily parking of cars and trucks at the curve on Hickory Drive from in front of the Roseland residence to in front of our residence. It is difficult to see the approaching cars leaving our drive because of cars and trucks parked from the Roseland residence south west in front of our residence. This is also a danger to our 8 year old daughter. Cars driving on Hickory going south west frequently come around the curve and straddle the middle of the road (at what appears to be speeds in excess of the speed limit) in order to avoid the cars parked in front of the Roseland's and our houses. Please request that the council amend the current proposed ordinance to include a prohibition on parking in front of our residence at 309 Hickory Drive. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Very truly yours, Jon Chester and Margaret Armstrong cc: Steve Schainker, City Manager, City of Ames
