SUBJECT: Request Approval for Change in Term Limits for the Electrical and Plumbing Code
Board of Appeals Members.
BACKGROUND:
On April 1, 1993, the City Council adopted our local Electrical and Plumbing Codes. In those
codes, the respective Boards were created and board members were appointed. The Boards
were set up to have all the board members' appointments end simultaneously on
April 1 , 1996. This action would be a setback for the Inspection Division because all the
knowledge of the board members accrued over the past three years would be removed
immediately. Therefore, the inspection staff and board members are asking the City Council
to adopt the attached ordinance to stagger the term limits of the electrical and plumbing code
board members.
ALTERNATIVES:
1. Approve the ordinances to stagger the term limits for the Electrical and Plumbing Code
Boards.
2. Deny the request.
MANAGER'S RECOMMENDED ACTION:
It is the recommendation of the City Manager that the City Council adopt Alternative #1.
