AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE ZONING REGULATIONS OF THE CITY
OF AMES,IOWA BY REPEALING SUBSECTION 29.40(12)PERTAINING TO
PARKING SPACES IN SHOPPING CENTERS AND RE-ENACTING THAT
SUBSECTION REVISED WITH RESPECT TO PARKING FOR THEATERS;
REPEALING ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT;
PROVIDING A PENALTY;AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED,by the City Council for the City of Ames,Iowa,that:
Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames,Iowa is amended by repealing subsection 29.40(12)
thereof and re-enacting the same to state as follows:
"(12) Parking for Shopping Centers over 200,000 square feet in gross floor area,Exclusive
of Office or Grocery Store uses: There shall be provided a minimum of 5.5 parking spaces for each
one thousand(1,000)square feet of gross leasable floor area."
Section Two. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such
conflict,if any.
Section Three.Violation of this ordinance shall be a municipal infraction punishable as provided in Section 1.9
of the Ames Municipal Code.
Section Four. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as
required by law.
