Dear Mr iller X On November 22, the Ames City Council considered staff recommendations regarding changes
to the tree surgeon and tree trimming portions of the City Code. These changes were
recommended in response to suggestions from the owners of two local tree trimming companies,
each of whom felt that the current ordinance imposed too many restrictions and requirements
upon licensed tree surgeons.
The Council voted to consider this ordinance at their next meeting, which will be held on
Tuesday, December 13. Due to the proposed ordinance's potential impact upon your business,
we felt that you would be interested in the enclosed background report which has already been
presented to Council.
The December 13 meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall's City Council Chambers at
515 Clark Avenue. You are certainly welcome to attend and to offer comments on this subject.
Should you have any written comments regarding the proposal, please send those to us by
December 8 and copies will be distributed to the City Council.
Thank you for your interest in this proposal. I hope you will call me with any questions
regarding the enclosed.
Sincerely,
Bob Kindred
Assistant City Manager
