Dear Mayor Curtis &Ames City Council,
We, the undersigned, have read the proposal from Mr. Scott Randall to forbid truck parking and un-loading in the alley,
Chamberlain Place (see diagram), from a point from the north edge of his property to the south at Hunt St..
This following alternative proposal was discussed at a meeting involving conversations with Judy Parks, Mark Reinig and
Scott Logan. Mr. Randall was not in attendance at this meeting, although his office was notified that the meeting would
take place on Tuesday, 7-5-94 @ 3pm.
We would propose a 55' loading zone (see diagram) that would service our businesses, including Mr. Randall's.
Although we understand that Mr. Randall does need access to his property on a daily basis, and that trucks currently do
sometimes block his needed access, we propose and support this alternative proposal that would do the following:
1) Allow access to Mr. Randall's property from Chamberlain Place, an alley, (about 85% access
along east property line), including all entry points on the eastern edge of his property,
2)Allow access for both businesses, Pizza Pit& Welch Ave. Station, to be able to un-load at least
one 55 foot semi-truck(see diagram for loading zone) as well as the 25 delivery vendors'
trucks that deliver to both of these businesses presently,
3)Allow da Vinci's Pizza to use this same loading zone to un-load their delivery trucks and vendor's,
4)Allow da Vinci's Pizza delivery vehicles access to the alley to enter and exit, and
5)Would help keep those 30+ vendors that service these businesses from using the already congested
loading zone along the north side of Quik Trip(the nearest alternative delivery zone)
The loading zone that we are proposing would not block Mr. Randall's overhead garage door on the east side of his
warehouse and would not block any of da Vinci's delivery driver's parking spots (see diagram). The loading zone would
begin 15' south of the north edge of Mr. Randall's property and extend to a point 40' north of Mr. Randall's property.
Thank you for your consideration and we would hope you would approve our proposal.
