BOX 811 AMES IOWA 50010 Community-University-Opportunity Public Works Department 515 Clark Avenue P.O. Box 811 515-239-5160 October 29, 1993 Steven and Janet Padgitt 327 Hickory Drive Ames, Iowa 50014 Dear Mr. and Mrs. Padgitt: have received a report that the current parking situation on Hickory Drive adjacent to your property is hazardous. According to reports, the presence of parked vehicles south of your drive (on the west side of the street) contributes to a sight distance problem for motorists traversing the street. With vehicles parked along this section, southbound motorists have difficulty viewing oncoming vehicles due to the curved street section. After reviewing the conditions, I have concurred that parking south of your drive does contribute to problems. Due to this problem, I propose that parking restrictions be placed on the south side of your drive, and, that parking be allowed on the north side. With this plan, I realize that your mail box should be relocated to the south side of the drive so your deliveries won't be hampered by parked vehicles. believe that due to the current situation, this measures should be implemented before November 15 to mitigate the current problem. If you wish to discuss this plan or situation in more detail, please feel free to contact me at 239-5275. Sincerely, 1 Scott Lon, P.E. Traffic Engineer S Udwj
