POLL TAX ORDINANCE NO. 325.
An Ordinance Providing for Poll Tax.
BE IT ORDAINED, By the City Council of
the City of Aoios, Iowa:
Section 1. All able bodied male residents -
betvreen the iges of twenty-one and forty-five
Shall, between the In-st day of Iebruary and
the first day- of October of each year, pay in
money to the Clerki. a su•n to be fixed by the I �!

year, not exceedin;r five dollars, The Council
. shall ftx,, by resolution, t the first regular� �
•(meeting in January of each year, the amount -
to be paid. The resolution may be in sub.:tan-
ltially the fo!low-ing form:
BE IT RESOLVED, By the City Council of
the.City of Ames, Iowa -
All able bodied male residents between the - -
agei of twenty-one and for ty-five, shall, be- -
tween the first day of February and the first
. day of October of the year 1922, pay in money t

Section 2 The Clerk shall make demand
tpon said residents for the payment of said

t sending notice through the mail.. Any per- -
son claiming to-be exempt under the pro- 7
I visiors of this Sd +ion shall furnish the mayor
rwith an affidavit, siihcin the nature and ex-I
'f tent of di"abilities entitl ng him to such e - i
empticn and if said affidavit is approved by
the Council then said aftiant will be relieved I -

Section 3. In ca e of failure to pay tBard i(

the Cleric to the County Auditor at any time

upon all real Property of the delinquent
Section 4. The entry of such tax and pen_I
alty upon the tax lint shall not prevent an
action being brought thereon,.but such action
- mirst co be mmenced wtihin one year from the

in any fn•e department COmpary for ten years,
and holds a certificate to that effect from the from -

poll tax on condition that he shall file
with the clerk, on or before the first day of -
April of each near a certificate signed by.the �-
foreman of the company of which he i, a
member, that he is an active member of the
