AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF
AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTION 26.77 AND RE-ENACTING A
NEW SECTION 26.77 FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROHIBITING STOPPING
ON THE TRAVELED PORTION OF A ROADWAY; REPEALING ALL ORDI-
NANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; ESTABLISHING A PENALTY AND
SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa:
Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa is hereby amend-
ed by repealing Section 26.77 and re-enacting a new Section 26.77 as follows:
1126.77. STOPPING ON TRAVELED PORTION PROHIBITED.
(1) Except as is necessary to avoid collisions in moving traffic, no
person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle on the traveled portion
of the roadway, attended or unattended, on any street in a
business district.
(2) It shall be a simple misdemeanor for a person to do any act which
is forbidden or to fail to perform any act required by this
Section, and shall be punishable by a scheduled violation of
$50.00.11
Section Two. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith shall
be repealed to the extent of such conflict if any.
Section Three. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and publication as required by law.
