HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Prohibiting Stopping on Traveled Portion of a Roadway ORDINANCE NO. 3248 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTION 26.77 AND RE-ENACTING A NEW SECTION 26.77 FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROHIBITING STOPPING ON THE TRAVELED PORTION OF A ROADWAY; REPEALING ALL ORDI- NANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; ESTABLISHING A PENALTY AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa: Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa is hereby amend- ed by repealing Section 26.77 and re-enacting a new Section 26.77 as follows: 1126.77. STOPPING ON TRAVELED PORTION PROHIBITED. (1) Except as is necessary to avoid collisions in moving traffic, no person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle on the traveled portion of the roadway, attended or unattended, on any street in a business district. (2) It shall be a simple misdemeanor for a person to do any act which is forbidden or to fail to perform any act required by this Section, and shall be punishable by a scheduled violation of $50.00.11 Section Two. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith shall be repealed to the extent of such conflict if any. Section Three.
