HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Prohibiting Parking on Sections of South Fifth Street and Walnut Avenue ORDINANCE NO. 3246 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SUBSECTIONS 18.31(119) AND 18.31(151) AND ENACTING NEW SUBSECTIONS 18.31(119) AND 18.31(151 FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROHIBITING PARKING ON A PORTION OF SAID STREETS; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; ESTABLISHING A PENALTY AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa: Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa is hereby amend- ed by repealing Subsections 18.31(119) and 18.31(151) and enacting new Subsec- tions 18.31(119) and 18.31(151) as follows: "(119) SOUTH FIFTH STREET. Parking is prohibited at all times on both sides from Walnut Avenue east 1,170 feet. See also Fifth Street. (151) WALNUT AVENUE. Parking is prohibited at all times on the east side thereof, from the north line of South Fifth Street to the south line of Lincoln Way; at all times along the west side from a point 82 feet north of South Second Street's centerline to a point 314 feet south of the said centerline; and at all times along the west side from South Fifth Street north 200 feet." Section Two. Violation of the provisions of this ordinance shall constitute a simple misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $100 or by imprisonment for not more than 30 days. Section Three. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith shall be repealed to the extent of such conflict if any. Section Four. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as required by law. Passed this 26th day of October 1993. Sandra L.
